The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) helps senior Australians access entry-level support services to live independently and safely at home. CHSP works with you to maintain your independence rather than doing things for you. If you’re having trouble with everyday tasks and feel that a little support could improve your health and wellbeing, CHSP could be right for you. Russian Ethnic Representative Council of Victoria is funded to provide following services under this program:
  • Domestic Assitance (Help with basic chores around the house)
  • Transport (Community transport or vouchers to attend appointments or activities)
  • Allied Health and Therapy services (Health and therapy services e.g. podiatry and occupational therapy)
  • Social Work
  • Social Support Individual or in group settings (Contact and company with others e.g. social groups)
To be eligible for this program, you must be aged:
  • 65 years or older (50 years or older for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people), or
  • 50 years or older (45 years or older for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) and on a low income, homeless, or at risk of being homeless.
To receive these services you should apply through My Aged Care https://www.myagedcare.gov.au/  You can access all information in the Russian language here https://www.myagedcare.gov.au/ru/russian  You can also fill in the application online https://www.myagedcare.gov.au/assessment/apply-online Or call them on  800 200 422   

If you speak a language other than English, you can call the Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS National) on 131 450 for support to talk to My Aged Care or with your aged care provider about your services. TIS National covers more than 100 languages and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for the cost of a local call.
