Gardening and Home Maintenance

The aim of the Gardening and Home Maintenance service is to help you to keep your home and garden in order. 

RERC/Russian Aged Care provides you with home maintenance and minor garden or yard repairs to keep the home safe, and a pleasurable home environment. Feel comfortable knowing your home is well maintained and looking good for when your friends or family come over.

What can I get help with?


Basic Home Maintenance:

    • Light bulb and smoke alarm battery replacement
    • Minor repairs by a handyman
    • Plumber and electricians – 1st hour only
    • Gutter and external window cleaning – up to twice a year
    • High pressure cleans of driveways and paths – up to twice a year


    • Lawn mowing – monthly in summer and every two months in winter,
    • Light gardening – light pruning, potting & watering plants – up to twice a year,
    • Garden service – weeding/ mulching, pruning trees/shrubs, fertilising grass/plants, and moving/relocating potted plants – up to twice a year

How do I get this support?

To receive government-funded  service you will need to have a referral from My Aged Care.

After you have been assessed by My Aged Care and have chosen Russian Ethnic Representative Council of Victoria (RERC/Russian Aged Care) as your provider our friendly Russian-speaking Client Services Coordinator will be in touch to arrange a home visit. During this home visit, you can tell us what help around the house you need, and your preferences on time and carer.

What will it cost?

If you are eligible for Commonwealth Home Support Program, most of the cost will be covered by the government. Our client manager will discuss the cost of the service and all the details with you during an initial consultation.

Service planning

    • Service bookings should only be made through our office. You can call your coordinator and ask for this service
    • A recurring service can be booked for an extended period of time. For example, a lawn mowing service on the first Monday of the month
    • Cancellation of service must be made 24 hours in advance
